Goodwood 2019

Day 1: Goodwood Festival of Speed 2019 Begins
The four-day motorsports extravaganza Goodwood Festival of Speed 2019, kicked off under sunny skies. In the natural beauty of Goodwood, a variety of events related to the world’s mobility culture and motorsports will take place. Among them, Honda will present its history of motorsports as well as electrification technologies, including the Honda e Prototype, which makes its debut in the UK.

While hill climbs are usually dominated by gasoline-powered machines with their exciting sounds, the Honda e Prototype is a very different story. The electric vehicle (EV) runs so quietly that spectators had to listen carefully to notice the sound of its motor. It is, undoubtedly, an environmentally friendly vehicle.

Honda has been conducting research and development of electrification technologies, and the NSX is equipped with technologies that maximize both the engine and motors. The Honda e Prototype hill climb demonstrated Honda’s commitment to the widespread adoption of EVs.

Although the hill climb is not the intended driving environment for the Honda e Prototype, its agile drive up the hill thanks to its powerful motor and rear-wheel drive attracted a great deal of attention from the crowd. It is a vehicle that is not only environmentally friendly, but is also designed to be fun to drive.
While most EVs employ platforms originally designed for gasoline-powered cars, the Honda e Prototype’s platform was developed specifically for EVs. Despite its compact body, the e Prototype has a long wheelbase and short overhangs, making it both easy to maneuver around town and offering excellent driving performance.
The Goodwood Hill Climb was the perfect place to demonstrate the performance and appeal of the Honda e Prototype, which achieves an drive range of over 200 km and can be charged quickly to 80% capacity in 30 minutes.
Occupants of the Honda e Prototype would undoubtedly find even more to love. It features a large display with intuitive and multifunction controls for a variety of functions, including connected services.

Club EV, Honda’s exhibit booth is designed to resemble the Honda e Prototype. Inside, visitors can see the Honda e Prototype and its appeal, and experience a variety of programs.
