The Monkey Z100, built as an amusement park ride, was exhibited at a European show and proved so popular that a small quantity was shipped to Europe. This led to the development of an road-legal export model.

Similar to the Z100, the CZ100 was also powered by the 50cc 4-stroke, OHV single-cylinder Super Cub C100 engine, but to accommodate adults, its frame was redesigned and made more rigid.

The CZ100’s 6-liter fuel tank design was borrowed from the Sports Cub C110 / C115.

The CZ100 was completed around December 1963, and went into production in 1964. In its three-year production run, around 2,500 units were made.

The CZ100 was produced at the Suzuka Factory, which was initially constructed as a Super Cub manufacturing facility.

According the the Suzuka Factory’s publicity magazine issued in 1965, the CZ100 assembly line, located in a corner of the plant, was a very short 7 meters in length.

Five associates assembled small parts in the morning, and completed assembly in the afternoon, producing 20 units per day. The production units were exported mainly to France and Germany.

Although only a small group of five associates hand-assembled the CZ100s, its small, adorable styling seems to show that they enjoyed their work.

This CZ100, successor to the original Z100, was ridden by, and entertained many visitors at Tama Tech, Ikoma Tech, and the amusement park at Suzuka Circuit, which opened in 1962.
