Africa Twin Stories
Fully Revamped Third-Generation Africa Twin
Just three years after the 1990 Africa Twin powered by a bigger 750 cc engine, a completely revamped model with better overall performance was released in 1993.
The newly designed square-section, semi-double-cradle frame was lighter and had a lower center of gravity, and the suspension was revised to improve riding performance. The rear tire was a tubeless radial tire suited to high-speed riding on paved roads.
The new XRV750 was powered by a highly acclaimed 750 cc water cooled, 4-stroke, V-2 OHC engine. The air cleaner was positioned at the front of the fuel tank to increase fuel capacity and intake efficiency, while also improving maintainability.
The fuel tank and fairing were redesigned, realizing a sharper styling.
In 1996, the Africa Twin was further refined, with redesigned front-upper fairing and screen to enhance wind protection. In addition, a new ignition system and larger silencer increased maximum output.
Since the introduction of the 650cc model in 1988, the Africa Twin has been highly popular with off-road fans as an adventure model, especially in Europe.
As the brand continued to evolve, the XRV750 Africa Twin launched in 2000 became the final 750 cc model.
