Honda Motor Co., Ltd. today announced a summary of automobile production, Japan domestic sales, and export results for the calendar year 2018 as well as for the month of December 2018.

Production in Japan experienced a year-on-year increase for the first time in two years (since 2016).

Production in regions outside of Japan experienced a year-on-year increase for the seventh consecutive year (since 2012), setting an all-time record for calendar year production. This includes all-time records for calendar year production in Asia and China.

Worldwide production experienced a year-on-year increase for the seventh consecutive year (since 2012), setting an all-time record for calendar year production.

Production in Japan for the month of December 2018 experienced a year-on-year increase for the sixth consecutive month (since July 2018).

Production in regions outside of Japan experienced a year-on-year decrease for the first time in three months (since September 2018).

Worldwide production experienced a year-on-year decrease for the first time in three months (since September 2018).

Total domestic automobile sales in the calendar year 2018 experienced a year-on-year increase for the second consecutive year (since 2017).

New vehicle registrations experienced a year-on-year decrease for the second consecutive year (since 2017).

Sales of mini-vehicles experienced a year-on-year increase for the second consecutive year (since 2017).

FIT was the industry’s sixth best-selling car among new vehicle registrations for the calendar year 2018 with sales of 90,719 units.

＜Mini-vehicles - under 660cc＞
N-BOX was the industry’s top-selling car among mini-vehicles for the calendar year 2018 with sales of 241,871 units.

Total domestic automobile sales in the Japanese market for the month of December 2018 experienced a year-on-year increase for the third consecutive month (since October 2018).

New vehicle registrations were the same as last year.

Sales of mini-vehicles experienced a year-on-year increase for the third consecutive month (since October 2018).

FIT was the industry’s seventh best-selling car among new vehicle registrations for the month of December 2018 with sales of 6,369 units. FREED was the industry’s 10th best-selling car with sales of 5,878 units.

N-BOX was the industry’s top-selling car in the mini-vehicle category for the month of December 2018 with sales of 16,607 units.

Total exports from Japan experienced a year-on-year increase for the first time in two years (since 2016).

Total exports from Japan in December 2018 experienced a year-on-year increase for the 12th consecutive month (since January 2018).
