January 27, 2015 - Honda Motor Co., Ltd. today announced a summary of automobile production, Japan domestic sales, and export results for the calendar year 2015 as well as for the month of December 2015.

Production in Japan experienced a year-on-year decrease for the first time in two years (since 2013).

Production in regions outside of Japan experienced a year-on-year increase for the fourth consecutive year (since 2012), setting an all-time record for calendar year production. This includes all-time records for calendar year production in North America, Asia, and China.

Worldwide production experienced a year-on-year increase for the fourth consecutive year (since 2012), setting an all-time record for calendar year production.

December 2015
Production in Japan for the month of December 2015 experienced a year-on-year decrease for the first time in two months (since October 2015).

Production in regions outside of Japan experienced a year-on-year increase for the 10th consecutive month (since March 2015), setting record high production for the month of December. This includes record high production in the North America, Asia, and China.

Worldwide production experienced a year-on-year increase for the seventh consecutive month (since June 2015), also setting record high production for the month of December.

Sales of new vehicle registrations experienced a year-on-year decrease for the first time in two years (since 2013).

Fit was the industry’s third best-selling car among new vehicle registrations for the calendar year 2015 with sales of 119,846 units. Vezel was the industry’s ninth best-selling car with sales of 71,021 units.

N-BOX was the industry’s top selling car among mini-vehicles for the calendar year 2015 with sales of 184,923 units. N-WGN was the industry’s sixth best-selling car with sales of 96,038 units.

Total Japan domestic market automobile sales for the month of December 2015 experienced a year-on-year decrease for the first time in two months (since October 2015).

New vehicle registrations experienced a year-on-year decrease for the first time in three months (since September 2015).

Sales of mini-vehicles experienced a year-on-year decrease for the 14th consecutive month (since November 2014).

Fit was the industry’s fourth best-selling car among new vehicle registrations for the month of December 2015 with sales of 8,065 units. VEZEL was the industry’s ninth best-selling car with sales of 5,044 units.

<Mini-vehicles - under 660cc>
N-BOX was the industry’s second best-selling car in the mini-vehicle category for the month of December 2015 with sales of 11,900 units. N-WGN was the industry’s seventh best-selling car with sales of 6,473 units.
