Takuma Sato

As only the second Japanese driver to step onto an F1™ podium, in 2020 he joined an elite club of just 20 multiple winners in the over 100-year history of the iconic Indianapolis 500. Takuma Sato has etched his name in the annals of motorsport legend.

Hi Takuma, what is your dream?

My dream is to become an Indy 500 champion once again. This will be the third time challenge, but it’s my ultimate dream for now.

What moves you forward to pursue your dream?

Because I always like to challenge. Even if you think it’s almost impossible to get it done, since you get to the different approach, you can ultimately get there. That's my past experience. It’s told me. For example, there was this phenomenal team. They were very small and had very limited resource, and the number of the days for preparation before getting to the Grand Prix was extremely tight, but they made it. I think the first year in the first race, we were five to six seconds off the pace from the front row, but in the end, this car for the second year, we got a few points and there were some dramatic situations.
For me, I think nothing is impossible.

What is your next challenge?

My next challenge is, of course, to try to achieve my dream as much as I could at the game. However, at the same time, now I'm really looking after the young drivers. It's a new challenge. So, trying to get a younger generation to challenge overseas. So, for me, to support them is my next challenge.
