High performance engine, motor and battery produce powerful acceleration
The i-DCD realizes an exhilarating driving experience every time the accelerator is pushed deep, by combining a powerful 1.5L i-VTEC engine utilizing Honda's unique VTEC technology, with a compact, high-torque motor, and a Lithium-ion battery which can provide the motor with a high current instantly. The Hybrid Drive mode provides strong acceleration by combining motor power with engine power through the dual clutch transmission.
1.5L DOHC i-VTEC Engine
Fuel efficiency and power coexist at a high-dimension through a high expansion ratio and minimized friction loss, thanks to Honda's advanced technologies including VTEC. The powerful engine, combined with a powerful motor, realize fun driving with strong acceleration G's and rhythmical, linear acceleration.
Motor and Dual Clutch Transmission
Honda realized a compact yet powerful motor by optimizing coil winding and magnet placement. By combining the motor with a rhythmical, nimble dual clutch transmission which switches between EV Drive and Hybrid Drive modes, Honda's i-DCD enables fun and efficient driving.
Lithium-ion Battery
Battery performance is improved through Honda's advanced technologies and proven track record of producing and evolving hybrid cars. Honda's batteries can store more electricity, and use and charge electricity with minimum loss. The package is more compact, even though 1.5 times more electricity can be stored than before.
