CES 2019

SAFE SWARM

SAFE SWARM™ is a technology concept aimed at realizing safe and smooth traffic flow using connected car technologies (Internet-connected, vehicle-to-vehicle, vehicle-to-infrastructure roadway).

SAFE SWARM™ aims to make overall traffic flow safe and smooth, and avoid traffic congestion, by vehicles sharing data with surrounding vehicles and road infrastructure, to analyze and optimize merging and lane-changing speed, mimicking a swarm of fish.

After introducing the SAFE SWARM™  concept at CES 2017, Honda has been conducting field-testing in a real-world environment on the 33 Smart Mobility Corridor in Ohio between Columbus and Marysville. Field-testing of Smart Intersections, with traffic light equipped with cameras, sensors, and communications, has also begun in Marysville.

To accelerate SAFE SWARM™ testing, Honda is seeking research and development partners, particularly businesses involved in the field of Intelligent Transportation Systems  (ITS) and Connected and Automated Vehicle (CAV).
