Overview of PCX ELECTRIC's EV system
The PCX Electric’s EV system satisfies the need for practical usability in everyday life, as well as adequate driving performance in mixed traffic environments with automobiles, etc., and therefore can be enjoyed by a greater number of people around the globe. The 96V EV system, consisting of two mobile power packs connected in series, is placed within the PCX's unique, easy-to-maneuver body size.
-EV System Parts Layout
The PCX ELECTRIC has a cruising range that is sufficient for commuting to work or school, and it can run comfortably in the speed range of 20 to 50 km/h, which is commonly used in urban areas. In addition, the PCX is easy to use, with a built-in plug that allows charging while parked or with the battery removed. All of these features have been realized in the compact body of the PCX, with the aim of creating a bike that can be used conveniently in everyday life around the world.
A motor that achieves both powerful starting acceleration and compactness
The motor adopts a magnet-embedded structure that uses reluctance torque (torque generated by the stator attracting the iron core) in addition to magnetic torque to improve efficiency in a wide range of rpm.
Temperature protection control limits output when coil temperature rises, and fine control of power flow eliminates the need for oil pumps, radiators, and clutches to cool the motor, resulting in a powerful yet compact power unit.
Portable battery for easy recharging
The Honda Mobile Power Pack is a newly developed portable battery that can be recharged on-board or off-board. By efficiently arranging the cells, battery connectors, BMU, etc., the energy density has been increased to about three times that of the 2010 EV-neo, and the size of the pack fits into the body of the PCX.
It also features a connector structure that minimizes wear even after repeated connection and disconnection, and a shock-absorbing structure that prevents damage to the internal lithium-ion cell even if it is accidentally dropped.
