Children in Need in UK
SDG 3 : Good health and well-Being, 4 : Quality education

Honda Motor Europe(HME)'s employees Participated in a Fundraising Activity.

At HME in the UK, employees based in Bracknell and Swindon participated in a week-long fundraising activity in late 2022, which consisted of cake sales at both locations on November 15, 16, and 17, and a virtual quiz conducted on November 18 to predict the number of sweets sold throughout the week from November 16 to 22.

This activity was a part of the charity event that ended on December 9 with an auction where Honda Motor Europe Logistics(HMEL)-UK donated a EU20i generator.

The fundraising method was developed specifically by creating and posting a QR code on the fundraising page of the JustGiving website so that a cashless fundraising system could be operated. This approach was taken for security reasons to ensure that all donations were paid directly to the charity organization. Employees received daily email communications and progress reports, and photos shot during the event were shared among them. (See below for some examples.)

The total amount of fund raised in this charity event reached approximately GBP 1,500, marking three times the target amount.

Olive Trees Managed by Honda Italy
SDG 3 : Good health and well-Being, 15 : Life on Land

At Honda Italia Industriale, S.P.A., eco-minded employees work as volunteers to take care of olive trees that have been planted 20 years ago. Every year, they harvest the olives, produce the olive oil, and donate the oil to the local community. These activities are serving as a good opportunity for these employees to contribute to the improvement of the environment and the protection of the ecosystem on their own initiative.

Motorcycle Safety Training Program Offered by Honda Motor Europe Iberia Branch in Spain
SDG 3 : Good health and well-Being, 4 : Quality education

Honda Motor Europe Iberia Branch started a two-week safety training program in 1992, which has been upscaled in 2009 to an all-year program offered at a motorcycle traffic education center named Honda Institute of Safety (HIS) located 20 minutes from Barcelona. The center built on a 20,000 square-meter property includes a building, an asphalt track, an off road track, and also a skid line for brake testing. Training activities are available all year long (excluding summer and winter holidays) and every day from Monday through Sunday. During the weekdays, the training activities are focused on safety courses for professionals and corporations (i.e. police, delivery services, etc.), while on the weekend, they are open to general motorcycle users (including children), regardless of which brand of motorcycle they own.

To make it easily accessible for the participants, HIS provides all necessary riding equipment and also motorcycles (around 50 units from 50cc to 500cc). The training program portfolio includes 11 courses, which are normally 6 or 8-hour long. These courses designed by HIS are based on defensive training and risk prevention. Training quality is one of HIS key targets. Since 2018, one of the HIS safety training programs has been certified with the European Motorcycle Training Quality Label for safety training, while achieving an average of 9.6 out of 10 in participants’ satisfaction score. With regards to the participation rate, HIS has accumulated already more than 25,000 participants from 2009 to 2022, while the plan for 2023 is to reach 1,250.

Food Program in the United Arab Emirates Special Economic Zone
SDG 1 : No poverty, 2 : Zero hunger

There are about 9,000 companies operating in the Jebel Ali Free Zone (a special economic zone in the United Arab Emirates), where more than 30,000 people stay in workers’ accommodations. As a member of this community, Honda Gulf FZE wishes to express its gratitude to those who work so hard to support local industries and businesses.

To this aim, in July 2022, we collected internal donations and our volunteer associates distributed 113 lunches to workers’ accommodations in the neighborhood. We plan to continue such activities in the future as we strive to be a company society wants to exist.
