Engaging Year 10/11 students throughout the pandemic

Learning to Work is a local charity that prepares young people for the world of work through career guidance, work experience and employer-led events and activities. They work closely with schools, colleges and businesses to bring opportunities to young people in the local area.
Many young people have experienced lots of disruption during the pandemic, particularly due to school closures. Whilst these disruptions affected all students, they had an even bigger impact on Year 10 and 11 students as they approach the milestone of making important decisions about further education or entering the world of work. The philanthropy grant from Honda supported Learning to Work's program to reengage Year 10/11 students to help them focus on future career aspirations and pathways during these unprecedented times.

Donating Honda power products to support key workers and local community
SDG 11: Sustainable cities and communities
Honda UK supported frontline National Health Service (NHS) workers and key workers in care homes by donating generators and a lawnmower during the COVID-19 outbreak.
Ready to be deployed at mobile testing centers, the donated generators supply power reliably to enable frontline staff to deliver medical care at temporary locations.
COVID-19 had a serious impact on care homes throughout 2020. Knowing the mental health benefits of outdoor time, Honda UK donated a petrol lawnmower to Norwood Charity (local care home village) to restore their garden to a safe environment, free from health and safety hazards.
Honda UK also supported the “Vital for Berkshire – Coronavirus Appeal” initiative run by our philanthropy partner Berkshire Community Foundation (BCF). Combining forces with other companies in our local area, our financial donation granted emergency funding to grass-root charities during the COVID-19 crisis.
