Gold Wing (GL1000)

Developed with the United States as its main market, the first generation Gold Wing was originally introduced as Honda’s flagship high-speed tourer model. It featured advanced technology and innovative ideas, such as the only four-stroke, horizontally opposed four-cylinder motorcycle engine, a fuel tank positioned under the seat, and a shaft drive mechanism. This model was manufactured in Japan in 1974, and sales in the U.S. began the following year.
