Honda Performance Development (HPD) has changed its name to Honda Racing Corporation USA (HRC US).

Honda Performance Development (HPD), a U.S.-based automobile racing development subsidiary, will change its name to Honda Racing Corporation USA (HRC US) in 2024.

HRC US will take this opportunity to take charge of Honda's global automobile motorsports activities, including North America and also the FIA*1 Formula One World Championship (F1). Together with Honda Racing Co., Ltd. (HRC) in Japan, HRC in Japan and the U.S. will bring their individual strengths together as independent subsidiaries specializing in Honda racing development, and strengthen Honda's automobile motorsports development capabilities globally.

Honda to Hold Its Official e-Motorsports Event “Honda Racing eMS 2024”

Honda Racing Corporation will hold the final competition of its e-motorsports event using the Gran Turismo 7*1 software (published by Sony Interactive Entertainment Inc.) for PlayStation® 5*2 and PlayStation® 4*3 on December 1 at Honda Welcome Plaza AOYAMA (Minato-ku, Tokyo).

This event aims to allow many participants to experience the joy of handling mobility and the excitement of motorsports up close. Over 200,000 players participated in the inaugural event last year. This year, the qualification for the finals in the 18+ age class has been expanded to include participants residing overseas, in addition to those in Japan.

Furthermore, the event will be promoted with Inugami Korone, a popular VTuber who has over 2.11 million*4 followers, as an ambassador.

Honda supports more than just motorsports featuring automobiles and motorcycles!

One such event is hot air ballooning, in which pilots embrace the challenge of traversing the open skies—which has been a dream for humankind since long ago.

At Honda, we first began to support air sports—which take place in the open skies—in 1989, then commenced special sponsorships the following year. In 1993, we scaled up our sponsorship activities with the launch of the Hot Air Balloon Honda Grand Prix.
