The RA100E was upgraded with a throttle valve system
to accommodate Senna’s unique throttle technique,
helping Honda in defending its constructors’ and drivers’ titles
by overcoming the pursuit by Ferrari,
fast closing in with its V12 engines.
Ayrton Senna won the drivers’ title for the second time,
and Honda won the constructors’ title for the fifth consecutive year.
