Honda Introduces 72-Degree V10 Engine, McLaren-Honda’s Dominance Continues

In 1989, when the F1 engine regulations were unified to 3.5-liter naturally-aspirated (NA) engines,
Honda continued to take on the challenge by choosing V10 engines,
between the more common V8 and V12 engines.
The speed and strength of McLaren-Honda continued to stand out during this season.
Alain Prost won the title in the final round at Suzuka again,
giving Honda its fourth-consecutive drivers’ and constructors’ titles.
