Wheelchair Racer Catherine Debrunner Breaks Her Own World Record, Sets New Mark in the 100 Meters (T53) in the World Para Athletics Grand Prix (Switzerland)
TOKYO, Japan, May 28, 2025 – Honda Motor Co., Ltd. today announced that wheelchair racer Catherine Debrunner, who Honda supports under a sponsorship agreement, broke her own world record by 0.05 seconds and set a new world record of 00:15.20 in the Women’s 100m T53, on Saturday, May 24, at the 2025 World Para Athletics Grand Prix (Switzerland) held in Nottwil, Switzerland from May 23 through 25, 2025.
The 2025 World Para Athletics Grand Prix (Switzerland) is one of the World Para Athletics Grand Prix Series events, regarded as a high-level international competition that attracts the world's top athletes.

Debrunner, who currently holds the world record in six wheelchair racing events – 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m and Marathon – continues to take on new challenges, aiming for new heights in both track and marathon races. Honda has been supporting her challenges by supplying racing wheelchairs designed and produced by Honda.
Based on the Honda vision for its sports activities – “To increase the number of people who take on challenges through sports activities and make the lives of all people more enjoyable” – Honda will continue to support various athletes who take on challenges toward the realization of their own dreams.
