The JAPAN MOBILITY SHOW 2023 closed on November 5, 2023. The first-ever mobility show after the name change from “motor show” drew as many as 1,112,000 visitors. This article retrospectively explores what Honda intended to communicate and its thoughts during these mobility festivities through the voice of President Mibe.
Honda’s thoughts on the essential values everlasting over time
Living up to its name, the JAPAN MOBILITY SHOW was participated in by not only automotive companies but also exhibitors from any and every industry and field. Under the theme of “Discover a future you can’t wait to navigate!”, the total of 475 companies and organizations welcomed and entertained visitors in their booths with a variety of displays.
Honda exhibited diverse forms of current and future mobility that Honda is pursuing.
While offering various forms of mobility, Honda has a stationary stance. That is, the dream is the driving force. President Mibe explains it as follows, as well as the message carried by the Honda booth theme, the “Honda Dream Loop”.
Then, what kind of mobility products is Honda dreaming of? “That’s the mobility products and services that ‘enable people to transcend various constraints such as time and place’ and ‘augment their abilities and possibilities.’ And Honda wants to continue offering these essential values now and for the future,” says President Mibe.
Mobility enables us to see new surroundings, meet new people, discover new things, which expand the world we live in. On the other hand, mobility faces various constraints. It may take a long time just to get to the destination, and we often cannot do anything else during that time. Or, we cannot even get to some places due to a lack of the proper means of transportation.
Honda wants to enable people to transcend such constraints, and we want to continue offering the joy and freedom of mobility into the future.
By using new mobility products and services at the will of the user, we can go faster and farther. We can go to places that we cannot get to with only human ability. New mobility products and services will enable people to do things that were not possible before. That is the value of “augmenting people’s possibilities.”
In the JAPAN MOBILITY SHOW, Honda showcased many types of future mobility Honda dreams of. In addition to sharing its dreams with visitors to the show, Honda also provided them with opportunities to express their dreams and desires for better mobility.

Because of the evolution of motor show into mobility show, I believe that Honda could express well its uniqueness that Honda has been augmenting possibilities of mobility on the ground not only for automobiles and motorcycles, in the ocean, and in the skies.
