Akie Iwai
Akie Iwai passed the JLPGA pro test in 2021. In 2022 she and her twin sister Chisato were the first sisters in history to be seeded in the same year. In 2023, she at last won her first victory at the KKT Vantelin Ladies Open and then went on to win the Sumitomo Vitality Ladies Tokai Classic and the Miyagi TV Cup Dunlop Ladies Open in two consecutive weeks. In 2024, she won three tournaments for the second consecutive year—the Resort Trust Ladies, the Nichirei Ladies Cup, and the Sumitomo Vitality Ladies Tokai Classic. From 2025, she moved her competitive stage to the LPGA Tour and celebrated her first victory in her rookie year at the Standard Portland Classic, becoming the first twins in LPGA history to win. She has a total of 6 wins on the JLPGA Tour and 1 win on the LPGA Tour.
Akie Iwai and her sister Chisato take turns traveling to tournaments in a STEP WGN and a ZR-V. She says she enjoys the ability to recline the seats, stretch her legs, and relax.
