Participated in the “Aichi Local SAF Supply Chain Council” organized by Aichi Prefecture

Honda has participated in the “Aichi Local SAF Supply Chain Council,” organized by Aichi Prefecture.

The Council aims to build a supply chain that reduces emissions caused by long-distance transportation of raw materials and fuel by producing Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) from used cooking oil collected in the Aichi region and refueling aircraft at nearby airports. It also seeks to quantitatively demonstrate the emission reduction effects of local production for local consumption.

Honda Kaihatsu Co., Ltd., which operates Honda’s employee cafeterias, will provide used cooking oil collected from these cafeterias around Aichi area. Honda R&D Co., Ltd., responsible for the research and development of aircraft engines, will evaluate the properties of the SAF produced. Honda Airways Co., Ltd., which operates aircraft including HondaJet, will refuel with the SAF at airports around Aichi Prefecture. Through this initiative, Honda aims to achieve resource circulation within the group and reduce overall emissions across the organization.

Honda actively uses SAF at its research facilities and contributes to the decarbonization of the aviation sector by participating in the OEM Review Panel, which supports the development of international SAF standards. Moving forward, Honda will continue to pursue various approaches toward decarbonization, including the use of SAF.
