All-New ASIMO Draws in Crowds to Slovenian Debut

October 6, 2014 - All-New ASIMO travelled to Slovenia for the first time this week to attend Speculum Artium 2014, an international festival celebrating new media culture.

The popular annual event was held in Delavski dom Trbovlje (DDT), a multi-purpose cultural center located in heart of the Slovenian mountains. This is the sixth time Speculum Artium has been organised in the city and this year’s theme was ‘the shape of things to come’, a broad topic exploring what it means to be human across art, technology and culture.

Before the festival opened to the public, the All-new ASIMO featuring improved agility and intelligence technologies, performed at the official press conference as well as the gala opening in front of an audience of gathered VIPs.

During the public days the All-New ASIMO performed ten shows to nearly 5,000 visitors, showcasing its enhanced capabilities including improved running and walking speeds, a seamless ability to climb stairs and better balance and posture control technologies.

There was strong media interest in the All-New ASIMO’s debut in Slovenia too, with coverage of the robot appearing across the country’s national newspapers, TV channels and radio stations.

In addition to the public performances, a photography exhibition featuring key milestone’s in Honda’s near 30 year research into humanoid robots was held in a local museum and a drawing competition was also arranged for local school children.

The Speculum Artium 2014 ran from the 2nd to the 4th October.
