"We are extremely honored that the Civic has been singled out for the SA Car of the Year Award 2007," said Honda South Africa's Managing Director, Hiroaki Shibata. “We have endeavored to provide the South African customer with an exceptional value-for-money package and we are thrilled that the Guild has recognized our efforts with this award.”

“The Civic sedan offers a complete all-round driving experience with a perfect balance of driving dynamics, ergonomics and modern styling aesthetics, combined with class leading refinement and build quality,” added Graham Eagle, Honda SA’s General Manager of Sales and Marketing.

By definition, the SA Car of the Year should evoke automotive passion and excitement to make it a truly outstanding car both in its class and in the whole market. "The Coty competition is about automotive excellence," said Patrick Gearing, chairman of the Coty committee. "The winning car must score highly in its class across a variety of categories including those which reflect value for money, safety, dynamics, technology and aesthetics.

In fact, many of the SAGMJ members felt that the Civic provides a new benchmark in the mid-sized vehicle segment.
