Honda Launches Logo Almas Special Care Vehicle

Tokyo, March 19, 1998 - Honda Motor Co., Ltd. has announced the launch of a new version of the Logo, the Logo Almas, designed to build on the Logo's spacious interior and adaptability with a variety of features designed to make it a specially equipped care vehicle. The Logo Almas will be available at March 19 from Honda auto dealers throughout Japan.
The Logo Almas is designed to accommodate the needs of elderly or physically challenged people, and is available in two versions - the Logo 3-door G-Allfa and the L-type. The passenger seat swivels to allow easy wheelchair access, and, with a special attachment, wheelchair storage in the rear is simple and convenient. The vehicle has been designed with the specific needs of caregivers, home nurses and welfare workers in mind.

To address new usage applications, the Honda affiliate, Honda Tokuso Co., Ltd. is currently developing extensions to the Almas series of care vehicles, which include the Logo Almas, an operative assisted vehicle that was launched in September 1997; a minivehicle, the Acty/Street Almas, and the Step WGN (Step Wagon) Almas, which will feature greater cabin space and be well-suited for traveling medium distances.

  • Swiveling passenger seat that is attached to a slide rail allowing the seat to extend slightly outside the vehicle makes getting in easier for those in a wheelchair
  • Foot support rail included for use when passenger seat swivels
  • Chest belt supports passenger's upper body during motion
  • Passenger door opens extra wide for easier wheelchair access
  • Wheelchair carrying/storage attachment makes loading and unloading a wheelchair simple. The attachment is also simple to mount and remove (designed for both manual and electric wheelchairs; with attachment, the vehicle seats two - if unattached, can seat five)

The name "Almas" was derived from the Spanish word 'alma,' which means 'heart.'
