Tokyo, October 2, 1997 - Honda Motor Co., Ltd. introduced today its updated light-duty 4-wheel drive CR-V series, adding the attractive Smart scape and the driver-oriented Active scape models to the existing line-up. The new CR-V will be available through Honda's Primo and Verno dealer networks nationwide starting October 2.
The updated CR-V now offers standard ABS and dual SRS airbags throughout the range while adding convenience features like keyless entry and UV-cut glass all round. On the mechanical side, the Realtime 4WD system has been re-tuned for improved response. The 4-speed automatic gearbox is now of the direct clutch control type.

The newly introduced Smart scape version boasts body-colored exterior parts including two-tone color bumpers and side door moldings together with tinted glass all round. The Active scape on the other hand features a high power 145 PS engine matched to a 5-speed manual transmission for increased driver involvement.
