American Honda Motor Co., Inc. (Headquarters: Torrance, California, President: Kazuhiro Takizawa), Honda's U.S. subsidiary, announced the following on May 11, 2024 (Japan time: May 12).

Jett Lawrence (Australia, age 20) of Team Honda HRC won his first championship title in the premier 450SX class (450cc) of the 2024 AMA* Supercross Championship, giving Honda the title for its second consecutive year.

This season’s Supercross Championship kicked off in Anaheim in January, with Team Honda HRC’s Jett Lawrence competing on a CRF450RWE alongside his elder brother, Hunter Lawrence.

After winning the season-opener, Jett won Round 5 in Detroit, took back the overall lead in Round 6. From round 8 onwards, he won three races in straight, and another three consecutive wins from round 14.

With 8 wins and 10 podiums out of the 17 rounds, Jett not only claimed the series championship but also won the AMA 450SX Rookie of the Year award.

Last year, Jet claimed championships in Pro Motocross in 450MX class and Super Motocross in 450SMX class. By winning this year’s 450SX championship, he has achieved all three premier class titles in American motocross racing series.

“I’m happy it’s finally over! It felt like a long season, but also kind of fast. I guess the emotions will probably set in tomorrow or Monday. I’m still super happy about it, and especially happy for the team. The whole race, I was thinking, ‘Don’t mess up, don’t mess up, don’t mess up!’ Whenever there was any sketchiness, I just backed it down; we just had to bring it in with the points we needed. Honestly, this championship only really became a goal at the end of last year—once I got my outdoor title, I thought, ‘Okay, let’s try for it in Supercross.’ It’s definitely a dream come true.”
