Honda Sets All-Time Monthly Record for Automobile Production Overseas, Asia and China and Achieves All-Time Accumulated Production Records Overseas, North America and Asia for the First Half of Year 2015

July 28, 2015 – Honda Motor Co., Ltd. today announced a summary of automobile production, Japanese domestic sales, and export results for the first half of the calendar year (January - June 2015) and the month of June 2015.

The First Half of Calendar Year 2015
Production in Japan for the first half of calendar year 2015 experienced a year-on-year decrease for the first time in two years (since the first six months of 2013).

Production in regions outside of Japan for the first half of calendar year 2015 experienced a year-on-year increase for the fourth consecutive year (since the first six months of 2012), setting record high production for the any half-year periods of the calendar year. This includes record high production in North America, and Asia.

Production worldwide for the first half of calendar year 2015 experienced a year-on-year decrease for the first time in two years (since the first six months of 2013).

June 2015
Production in Japan for the month of June 2015 experienced a year-on-year increase for the eleventh consecutive month (since August 2014).

Production in regions outside of Japan experienced a year-on-year increase for the fourth consecutive month (since March 2015), setting all-time monthly record for production for any months. This includes Asia and China, and record high production for the month of June in North America and USA.

Production worldwide experienced a year-on-year increase for the first time in sixth month (since December 2014), setting record high production for the month of June.

The First Half of Calendar Year 2015
Total Japanese domestic market auto sales for the first half of calendar year 2015 experienced a year-on-year decrease for the first time in two years (since the first six months of 2013).

New vehicle registrations experienced a year-on-year decrease for the first time in two years (since the first six months of 2013).

Sales of mini-vehicles experienced a year-on-year decrease for the first time in four years (since the first six months of 2011).

Fit was industry’s third best-selling car among new vehicle registrations for the first six months of 2015 with sales of 67,490 units. VEZEL was the industry’s ninth best-selling car with sales of 38,218 units.

<Mini vehicles - under 660cc>
N-BOX was the industry’s Top-selling car in the mini-vehicle category for the first six months of 2015 with sales of 106,986 units. N-WGN was the industry’s sixth best-selling car with sales of 56,236 units.

Honda’s automobile sales in the Japanese market for the month of June 2015 experienced a year-on-year decrease for the ninth consecutive month (since October 2014).

New vehicle registrations experienced a year-on-year decrease for the ninth consecutive month (since October 2014).

Sales of mini-vehicles experienced a year-on-year decrease for eighth consecutive month (since November 2014).

Fit was the industry’s forth best-selling car among new vehicle registrations for the month of June 2015 with sales of 10,750 units. STEPWGN was the industry’s seventh best-selling car with sales of 7,572 units and VEZEL was the industry’s tenth best-selling car with sales of 6,453 units.

N-BOX was the industry’s Top-selling car in the mini-vehicle category for the month of June 2015 with sales of 16,872 units. N-WGN was the industry’s eighth best-selling car with sales of 7,249 units.
