Honda Earns Highest Disclosure Scores among All Japanese Companies and Named One of the World's Most Advanced Companies in CDP Global 500 Climate Change Report 2013

TOKYO, Japan, September 12, 2013 - Honda Motor Co., Ltd. announced that it has earned the highest disclosure scores among all Japanese companies in the CDP*1 Global 500 Climate Change Report 2013, which analyzes the initiatives of the world's 500 largest companies in addressing countermeasures against global warming and disclosing information regarding greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Moreover, as a result of receiving a high evaluation for both the progress made through its initiatives and the content of its disclosure, the report named Honda one of the world's top 12 most advanced companies.

For the CDP Global 500 Climate Change Report 2013, Honda disclosed global estimates of its all GHG emissions including emissions from the procurement of raw materials to production and sales, and from customer use, all the way to the end-of-life treatment of Honda products, in conformity with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG Protocol)*2. In addition, Honda became the world's first company to disclose all Scope 3*3 GHG emissions. Such enhanced disclosure activities were highly evaluated, earning Honda the highest disclosure scores among all Japanese companies, with higher disclosure scores than the preceding year.

Furthermore, for the third consecutive year, Honda was listed as one of only 60 companies in the CDP's "Climate Disclosure Leadership Index" (CDLI), which features the world's most advanced companies in the area of disclosures related to global climate change. In addition, Honda was named one of only 56 companies in the "Climate Performance Leadership Index" (CPLI), which features the world's most advanced companies in the area of actual performance in initiatives to address climate change.

Toward the fulfillment of the Honda Environmental and Safety Vision - realizing "the Joy and Freedom of Mobility" and "a Sustainable Society where People Can Enjoy Life" - Honda has been making steady progress in its global environmental initiatives with the slogan - "Blue Skies for Our Children." Honda will further enhance its environmental initiatives in each region and remain proactive in disclosing environmental information.
