Honda Sets All-Time Fiscal Year Record for Overseas Auto Production

April 25, 2011 - Honda Motor Co., Ltd. today announced a summary of automobile production, Japan domestic sales, and export results for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2011 (Fiscal Year 2011), as well as for the month of March 2011. Honda set all-time fiscal year records for overseas auto production.

Production in Japan for the Fiscal Year 2011 experienced a year-on-year increase for the first time in four years (since Fiscal Year 2007).

Production in regions outside of Japan experienced a year-on-year increase for the first time in three years (since Fiscal Year 2008). Overseas auto production and production in Asia and China set all-time fiscal year records.

Worldwide production also experienced a year-on-year increase for the first time in three years (since Fiscal Year 2008).

March 2011
Production in Japan for the month of March 2011 experienced a year-on-year decrease for the fourth consecutive month (since December 2010).

Production in regions outside of Japan experienced a year-on-year decrease for the first time in 17 months (since October 2009), although production in Asia and China set record production for any months.

Worldwide production experienced a year-on-year decrease for the second consecutive month (since February 2011).

Fit was the industry's second best-selling car among new vehicle registrations for the Fiscal Year 2011, with sales of 189,369 units. Freed was the industry's fifth best-selling car with sales of 91,074 units. Step WGN was the industry's eighth best-selling car with sales of 71,007 units.

Life was the industry's seventh best-selling car among mini-vehicles for the Fiscal Year 2011, with sales of 68,599 units.

New vehicle registrations experienced a year-on-year decrease for the seventh consecutive month (since September 2010).

Sales of mini-vehicles experienced a year-on-year decrease for the first time in two months (since January 2011).

Fit was the industry's best-selling car among new vehicle registrations for the month of March 2011 with sales of 22,284 units. Freed was the industry's fifth best-selling car with sales of 8,608 units. Step WGN was the industry's ninth best-selling car with sales of 6,251 units.

Life was the industry's sixth best-selling car in the mini-vehicle category for the month of March 2011, with sales of 8,334 units.
