Full Model Change for the Honda Forza 250cc Scooter
March 30, 2004, Japan
March 30, 2004-Honda Motor Co., Ltd. today announced that it will release a full model change of its sporty Forza 250cc scooter. The release of the Forza X on Tuesday, April 27 will be followed on Friday, July 30 by the release of the Forza Z, the world’s first 250cc scooter to feature a Honda S-Matic (electronically controlled belt converter) transmission.
Since its introduction in 2000, Forza has become a favorite of young riders everywhere both for its sporty styling and fun-to-ride handling. The key concept in the development of the new model was ‘comfortable two-seater,’ and the new Forza has been designed to maintain the high level of quality attained by earlier models while affording not only the rider but also the passenger with greater comfort than ever before.
The newly designed single-cylinder engine, more compact and lightweight than ever, features Honda’s programmed fuel injection (PGM-FI) system for fun-to-ride performance in a wide range of city and highway riding. The Forza Z will also feature the world’s first application of a Honda S-Matic to a 250cc class scooter, enabling a choice of an automatic transmission or a sporty six-speed manual transmission through a simple operation.
Another standard feature of the new vehicle is the Honda Smart Card system, which features two-way electronic communication verification for both added convenience and effective
theft deterrence.
The styling of the new Forza has been completely redone, with new left and right taillights added to Forza’s trademark dual headlights, for a more refined and dynamic appearance than
ever before.
A new one-touch latch for the seat provides easy access to a 62-liter* underseat storage compartment that can accommodate long items, such as golf clubs, or two full-face helmets, giving the Forza the most underseat storage of any 250cc-class scooter. Under the handlebars there’s also a large drawer-style box and a retractable-lid box that can hold a 500ml drink
container.
Colors available on both the Forza X and Z are Cyber Silver Metallic and Pearl Milky White. Pure Black is available exclusively on the Forza X. Available exclusively on the Forza Z are Pearl Cyber Black, Delta Blue Metallic, and Candy Glory Red.

=Main Features=
- New compact, lightweight engine featuring PGM-FI electronic fuel injection
The Forza features a lightweight, compact, water-cooled, four-stroke, SOHC 249cc single-cylinder engine with PGM-FI. The PGM-FI collects data on vehicle speed, throttle opening, engine speed, ignition timing, and intake temperature and uses it to achieve precision fuel injection control for optimal combustion. The PGM-FI not only produces cleaner emissions, it also helps the Forza X achieve 41 km/Liter and the Forza Z achieve 43 km/Liter fuel economy (60 km/Liter at low altitude). - World’s first Honda S-Matic transmission on a 250cc scooter (Forza Z only)
The electronically controlled Honda S-Matic offers the rider a dual-mode (D-mode, S-mode) automatic or six-speed manual transmission. The six-speed manual mode shifts as well as changing between D-mode and S-mode can be toggled with a switch located on the right-hand side of the handlebars. A signal from the ratio switch is fed to the Honda S-Matic transmission ECU, and the control motor is operated with sensor signals to change the position of the drive pulley, effecting gear change. Further, in six-speed manual mode, the unit automatically shifts down to first gear when the scooter is stopped. This allows the rider to enjoy the convenience of an automatic combined with the sportiness of a manual, all in one bike. - Newly designed frame, suspension, and wheels for improved riding comfort
The Forza’s backbone frame has been given a new high-rigidity design, for improved handling stability at high speeds and when carrying a passenger. Front and rear suspension and wheels have been redesigned to reduce unsprung weight. - High-quality styling
Forza’s styling creates a refined and dynamic form that gives the vehicle a strong presence and helps make it fun to drive. Complementing Forza’s characteristic dual headlights are new dual taillights. Other major styling changes include a black smoke meter visor and four-meter instrument display that create a high-quality, highly functional look. The 710 mm-high large bucket seat is low enough to make footrests more comfortable than ever before, and now that the rear seat backrest is standard equipment, it’s easier and more fun than ever to take a passenger along for the ride. - Largest underseat storage space in the 250cc class
A 62-liter storage compartment underneath the seat is available at the touch of a button located near the bottom of the main switch. Large enough to store two full face helmets, it will also hold up to fourteen 45” golf clubs or an A3 size attaché case. The large console box beneath the left-hand side of the handlebars can also be opened with the touch of a button located beneath the main switch. This 5-liter drawer-style box pulls out for easy use. Beneath the right-hand side of the handlebars there’s and a retractable-lid box that will hold a 500ml drink container or other small items. - Honda’s Smart Card Key system on a motorcycle for the first time
The first system of its kind to be applied to a motorcycle, Honda’s Smart Card Key System offer a convenient, electronic way to start your engine, or open the seat compartment, console box or fuel lid. A chip located in the vehicle communicates with an identical chip embedded in the Smart Card Key; the vehicle cannot be operated unless the ID signals of the two chips match. The Smart Card Key is small and easy-to-carry. It must be in close proximity to the vehicle (from 80 to a maximum of 250cm) before any controls can be operated. Slipping conveniently into a pocket, the Smart Card Key is a convenient way to ensure that your scooter always remains under your control. - Multi-reflector headlights and taillights for superior visibility
The Forza features 60W/55W dual multi-reflector headlights along with dual left/right multi-reflector taillights. The brightness and light distribution of this system make it easier it see and to be seen at night. The instrument display features the easy-to-read LED meters often found on late-model road sports bikes. In addition to the four built-in analog meters (fuel, water temperature, speedometer, and tachometer) a centrally located LCD display provides fuel consumption data and a clock. - Each model features a range of attractive colors

- Exclusive Forza speed-modulated audio speaker system (option)
An exclusive Forza audio speaker system by Honda Access is available as an option. Installed on either side of the meter panel, the speakers are both water and vibration resistant, and are easily operated from a switch attached to the handlebars. This system also features a special functionality that adjusts the volume in accordance with the speed of the vehicle, lowering the volume with deceleration. This feature makes life a little more pleasant for those nearby when the rider stops at an intersection.
