Design Concept
GLIDING CROSS STANCE
Exhilarating sensation, like gliding
The exterior features sleek proportions and dynamically intersecting surfaces.
A low nose and flared rear fenders emphasize motion, while wing-inspired lighting and shimmering blue accents evoke a sense of exhilaration.
The smooth surface composition, designed without relying on character lines, achieves both functional beauty and a distinctive sense of specialness unique to the PRELUDE. This results in a design truly befitting a sports car in the era of electrification.
GLIDING COCKPIT
Exhilarating sensation, like gliding
The interior is designed to fully pursue both a sense of unity with the driving experience and a comfortable time for two.
While allowing the driver to feel its movements intuitively, the cabin goes beyond a typical driver-oriented sports model—creating a pleasant travel space for the passenger and fostering anticipation for the driving experience.
Ideation
Exploring the definition of next-generation hybrid sports
During the initial phase of development, a comprehensive approach was adopted—not only considering the dynamic qualities of conventional sports models, but also integrating environmental performance and everyday usability. Additionally, various design strategies were explored, such as expressing a wide stance and sleekness, and effectively utilizing character lines. This process itself was a crucial experiment in shaping the PRELUDE as a hybrid sports car for a new era.

Exploring the next-generation sports cockpit
In the initial studies, Honda's unique approach to the functional beauty of the interior was pursued—aiming to create a sense of unity with the car even before driving. Various skeletal expressions and control layouts were explored, such as enhancing driving focus, emphasizing advanced features through dynamic styling, and prioritizing comfort. These ideas were repeatedly verified and refined through clay models and renderings*. This extensive process ultimately defined the value of the “GLIDING COCKPIT” envisioned for the PRELUDE.
*Verify through rendering: Experience the 3DCG in VR and AR to confirm the design and usability before creating the physical objects.
