In the nominated CMF (Color, Material, Finish) designs, the trend of expressing “natural scenery through CMF” stood out. Perhaps influenced by the pandemic, people developed a strong desire to visit places where they could breathe freely, which in turn led to an outdoor boom. Yet this was not only a response to the pandemic—it was also a way of reconciling the contradiction between an increasingly digital society and our innate connection to “nature” as living beings. Motorcycles, which move in unison with the human body, embody this connection. Through CMF design, they vividly capture the “inner landscape” that emerges from fully engaging the physical senses.
