RA626H: Taking on a New Era of Formula 1
In 2026, Formula 1 cars will undergo a major transformation. At the heart of this change is the power unit, which will be completely redefined under sweeping new regulations aligned with the future of the automobile—most notably through deeper electrification and the use of sustainable fuels.
Honda’s RA626H, developed for this new generation of F1 machines, is built around a 1.6-liter V6 turbocharged internal combustion engine (ICE) and developed with Honda’s advanced electrification technologies. It incorporates control technologies and a battery system refined through years of experience, resulting in a thoroughly new power unit for a new era.
The output balance between the ICE and the electric motor is set at 50:50. While ICE output has been significantly reduced compared with previous generations, total maximum output remains at a comparable level overall. As Formula 1 enters an era in which cars generate electrical energy while racing and deploy that power in competition, Honda confidently brings the RA626H to the grid.
