Lance Stroll

Lance Stroll made his Formula 1 debut with Williams in 2017,
becoming the first Canadian F1 driver since Jacques Villeneuve.
He finished third at Round 8, the Azerbaijan Grand Prix,
securing his first career podium.
In a season dominated by the top three drivers,
Stroll was the only competitor outside that group to step onto
the podium—an impressive debut for a talented rookie.

Stroll is known for his speed in wet and chaotic conditions.
At the 2020 Italian Grand Prix, amid multiple crashes and safety car periods,
he claimed his second podium finish.
Later that season, at Round 14 in Turkey,
he took his first career pole position in a rain-afflicted qualifying session.

Career

Stroll began his racing career at the age of 10, competing in karting championships in Canada. He moved to Europe and contested the European Formula 3 Championship in 2015, earning his first victory and finishing sixth in the standings. In 2016, he captured the championship title, which led to a full-time Formula 1 seat in 2017.

Making his F1 debut with Williams in 2017, Stroll finished ninth at the Canadian Grand Prix (Round 7), becoming the first Canadian driver in 21 years to score points at his home race. At the following Azerbaijan Grand Prix, he ran as high as second late in a dramatic race before finishing third, earning his first podium. This marked the first podium for a Canadian driver since Jacques Villeneuve, 16 years earlier.

In 2019, Stroll moved to Racing Point, the successor to Force India. He claimed two third-place finishes during the 2020 season.

In 2021, the team was rebranded as Aston Martin, with Stroll continuing as a regular race driver. While results have been mixed, expectations are high for improved performance under the new structure and car regulations from 2026 onward.
