Honda Adds New Grades to Odyssey Series

Tokyo, November 26, 1998 - Honda Motor Co., Ltd. has added two new grades with a variety of extra features to the best-selling Odyssey series of minivans. The Odyssey Fine Spirit with a 2.3-liter VTEC engine and the Odyssey Prestige VG Touring with a V6 3-liter VTEC engine will go on sale at all Honda automotive dealers nationwide from November 26.

Main changes (Odyssey Fine Spirit):

Based on the Odyssey M grade, the Fine Spirit features special aluminum wheels and luxurious interior styling.

  • High-class interior styling features include: exclusive light brown artificial wood grain center panel, radio panel and pull-out pocket; polished chrome inner door handles; exclusive brown seat upholstery
  • Special leather-wound steering wheel
  • Body-colored outer door handles, side protection panels, side sill panels and metallic finish exhaust pipe finisher
  • Elegant 15-inch aluminum wheels

Main changes (Odyssey Prestige VG Touring):

Based on the Odyssey Prestige VG grade, the VG Touring features new interior and exterior styling modifications designed to give it a sportier and more stylish feel. The changes include incorporation of front/rear under spoilers for an extra aerodynamic profile, a body-colored front grille and an exclusive shade of upholstery for the seats.

  • Sporty exterior styling: body-colored front/rear under spoilers, front grille and rear panel
  • Exclusively-designed diamond-cut 15-inch aluminum wheels
  • Front electric sunroof
  • Sporty black artificial wood grain center panel, radio panel and pull-out pocket and hole-punched leather-bound steering wheel

Main changes for other models:

  • Front electric sunroof has now been made a standard feature on the present Aero Spirit grade - without any increase in price!
  • In addition to new body color options an expanded number of grades can also be matched with the special color options such as Premium White Pearl. The new Odyssey Prestige grade comes with a choice of two interior colors (gray or beige) that match the external color range perfectly.
  • Optional Honda Navigation System comes complete with a Wandering Sensing Device that detects abnormal driving patterns and alerts the driver, (see 1997 Automobile News, dated Aug.1st).
  • All-round real leather seats option in the 7-seat version in addition to the 6-seat version
  • Dual SRS airbag system and 4-wheel ABS brakes are standard fittings

Special leisure models:

Special leisure versions are being launched at the same time, including an upgraded Odyssey Field Deck (7-seat version only) model with a pop-up roof and an Odyssey Trailer Hitch Type model capable of being hitched up to a trailer (for example, for camping). All modifications are being handled by Honda Tokuso Co., Ltd.
