Improvements Made to Re-launched S-MX

Tokyo, May 14, 1998 - Honda Motor Co., Ltd. has announced that its S-MX, which enjoys increasing popularity among young people and represents the fourth vehicle released in the Creative Mover series, has been further upgraded. It will be available from May 14 at Clio dealers throughout Japan.

Since its initial launch in November 1996, the S-MX has sold a total of 89,000 vehicles (figure as of April 30, 1998). The minor changes include applying the "White Stream" special equipment to all the LOWDOWN models, as well as several other improvements to the features and specifications.

Main components of S-MX model upgrade

  • Seat upholstery on 2WD and 4WD models changed to blue moquette, with dark blue being offered as an extra option.
  • New paint color available on 2WD and 4WD models: "Ruby Red Pearl"
  • Body colored bumpers, door handles, side-mirrors and washer nozzles are standard on the S-MX LOWDOWN model.

Principal factory options:

  • Honda Navigation System with AM/FM 4-speaker cassette radio
  • Wide glass sunroof (with sunshade and tilt-up mechanism)
  • S-package (keyless entry system, power folding door mirror, tinted side glass), (standard features with the LOWDOWN type)
  • Aluminum wheels (diamond-cut aluminum wheels are standard features with the LOWDOWN type)
