SHANGHAI, China, October 10, 2011 - Sundiro Honda Motorcycle Co., Ltd., Honda's motorcycle production and sales joint venture in China, today held a ceremony to commemorate the company's 10th anniversary since its establishment in 2001. The ceremony was attended by dignitaries, guests and representatives from local governments, Honda executives including Takanobu Ito, president and CEO; Tatsuhiro Oyama, chief operating officer for motorcycle operations; Seiji Kuraishi, chief operating officer for regional operations in China, as well as other Honda associates.

Established on September 19, 2001, Sundiro Honda exceeded the 7 million-unit mark in motorcycle production in just 10 years. In addition to the production of motorcycle products for the Chinese market, Sundiro Honda began exports of its products in 2002, just its second year in operation. Among its export models is the Today, a scooter model which has been especially popular in the Japanese market as a high-quality and affordable product since exports began in 2002. Cumulative production of 50cc scooters for export reached 1 million units in June 2010. Sundiro Honda now exports to more than 45 countries around the world and has been positioned as one of the most important production operations of Honda's motorcycle business.

In 2010, Sundiro Honda's sales in China totaled approximately 570,000 units (up 3% since 2009). Sundiro Honda has been a leader in China's motorcycle industry in its successful efforts to comply with not only China's but also other countries' emissions regulations. Sundiro Honda will continue proactively adopting advanced environmental technologies to offer attractive products that fulfill the needs of Chinese customers as well as customers in Japan and around the world.
