Since beginning his racing career in regional races in the U.S. in 2007, Brabec has shown outstanding growth as a rider. In 2014 he won major titles in the U.S. (Hare&Hound AMA Championship, Baja 1000 and Baja 500), which landed him a place in the 2015 Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge in 2015 with Team HRC. Despite this being his first international race, he finished top of the junior class and fifth overall. After overcoming injuries, Brabec made a comeback in the Hare&Hound, winning the final round.
In his Dakar debut with Team HRC in 2016, Brabec finished ninth overall, demonstrating his potential. In the 2017 edition he won his first stage, but was unable to start in Stage 11 due to mechanical issues, and retired. He fought with the leaders until the mid-stage of the 2018 edition, but electrical issues in Stage 13 ended his race. In 2019, Brabec won Stage 4, the first day of the marathon stage, and was a favorite for the overall win, but retired in Stage 8 due to mechanical issues.
On his fifth attempt at the Dakar, Brabec finally won. After taking Stage 3 and the lead, he went on to win Stage 6, and consistently finished high up the rankings in the other stages. His outstanding performance helped him maintain the lead from Stage 3, to give him a convincing win in the 2020 edition. Brabec is the first American rider to win the event.
In 2021, Brabec enters his sixth Dakar, aiming to defend his title as Honda’s factory rider.
