IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia riders Somkiat Chantra and Dimas Ekky Pratama fought a hard season-ender at Valencia, finishing 23rd and 25th respectively.
Somkiat Chantra | IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia (23rd)
"I'm not satisfied, but at least I was able to finish the race, in my first time here in Moto2. I was hoping for a better result, but many riders are fast in Valencia. Here I finished my first season in the World Championship, scoring 23 points, and I've accumulated a lot of experience. I'm looking forward to starting to prepare for next season."
Dimas Ekky Pratama | IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia (25th)
"I'm glad I had the chance to race the World Championship, but unfortunately I had a bad injury in the middle of the season. This championship is not easy, especially if you are out for many races. In my case, I missed seven rounds while my competitors were working and improving. Step by step, I've been recovering my rhythm, achieving my best position in Malaysia, where I finished 18th. Here in Valencia, I tried to fully concentrate, especially at the start. But I had a bad feeling with the bike at the entrance to the turns. That made me lose a lot of speed, mainly at the second turn. Now it is time to come back home. All the best for the team."
Hiroshi Aoyama | Team Manager, IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia
"A tight race for both riders. They had good starts, and were consistent during the race. I think we had the chance to get some points, but there were a lot of riders in the front, and our riders couldn't overtake them. During the race, both riders demonstrated improvement, which is important for us. We knew that on this track, the differences are so small, so if you start from behind, it's not easy to pass the other riders. Thinking about next year, Somkiat has done an impressive season as a rookie, and we're happy about his potential. Dimas had a hard incident during the season, but he was able to come back to the race. It wasn't easy for him to race in this category, but he did his best in every single race. His potential was improving, which is the result of the effort that he and the team gave. I'm pleased with how the staff worked and also the effort the riders showed all season."
