Chantra and Dimas Pay for Lack of Experience at Philip Island

Phillip Island
Rd.17 Pramac Generac Australian Motorcycle GP
Dry conditions
Ambient:13℃ / Track: 22℃

On one of the most demanding circuits of the championship, and with varying weather, IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia riders will start the intermediate class race towards the back of the grid.

Somkiat Chantra | IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia (28th *Starting Grid: 27th)

"I'm not happy with my grid position, but honestly was unable to ride with this strong wind. I never experienced this situation. Most of the turns at Phillip Island are fast, and the wind didn't let me follow the line. Anyway, the race is tomorrow, and if the wind stops a little bit, I will try to do better."

Dimas Ekky Pratama | IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia (32nd *Starting Grid: 31st)

"I struggled a lot with the wind, and I’ve never ridden in these conditions. The grid position is not good. We will test some changes during the warm-up. All I can do is to keep a positive mindset and to do my best in the race."

Hiroshi Aoyama | Team Manager, IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia

"It wasn't an easy day for both riders, so cold and windy. Chantra and Dimas come from Asia, so they are not accustomed to these kinds of conditions. Especially in the afternoon both riders were struggling a lot, but they managed to stay on their bikes. Tomorrow it seems to be a different situation. Phillip Island is demanding, and to be here for the first time under these weather conditions means the learning process is more complicated."
