Toba Overcomes Pain to Finish Seventh, Ogura Knocked Out of the Race

Dry conditions
Ambient: 32℃ / Track: 48℃

Both Honda Team Asia riders were highly competitive and eager in the lightweight class of the Thailand Grand Prix, fighting within the leading group for the podium until the final lap,

Kaito Toba | Honda Team Asia (7th)

“A tough race for me, because I have an injury that didn’t permit me to be at my 100 percent. But I made a good race. I hadn’t the option to overtake my rivals, and then I decided to stay and wait because I had the real risk to crash. I’m happy about the result.”

Ai Ogura | Honda Team Asia (DNF)

“Again, I’ve lost an option to fight for the podium, and again caused for the same rider. I started from the back of the grid, and during the first laps, I struggled to overtake the riders. Shame for the crash because I was consistent and fast. I’m happy about this. Now is time to think of the next race in Japan.“

Hiroshi Aoyama | Team Manager, Honda Team Asia

“Another hard race. Both of our riders were fighting in the top group until the last lap. Both chose the hard rear tire option, an advantage in the second part of the race, even if they struggled a lot on the first part. It’s a pity because Kaito was suffering a lot with his shoulder issue and Ogura was doing a perfect race but crashed after Migno fell in front of him again. We are disappointed about this result, but the next race is their home GP. I hope we will be focused because we arrive in good shape for Japan.”
