Both IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia riders could not compete in the Moto2 Dutch TT in Assen. Somkiat Chantra sustained a fracture in his left wrist after a crash during warm up. He will be operated tomorrow in Barcelona and will miss the next race in Germany. Dimas Ekky Patrama is still recovering from concussion, and the decision was to rest and see how his physical condition develops.

Somkiat Chantra | IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia (DNS)

“I’m really sorry for the team, I made a big mistake during the warm up, and the consequence is that I’ve lost the chance to do a good race in Assen. This night I will fly to Barcelona and tomorrow afternoon the Doctor Xavier Mir will do a surgery in my left wrist. Unfortunately, I will miss also the next race in Sachsenring, but I hope to be ready for Brno.”

“I still feel a lot of pain in my neck, both the doctors and the team decided that the best for me it was to rest and to try to be recovered for Sachsenring. I’m very sorry for the team, because they had prepared this race conscientiously, but everybody agrees that the safest was not to race.”

Hiroshi Aoyama | Team Manager, IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia

“A really bad luck this weekend for our Moto2 riders. Friday a rider hit Dimas in a fast corner and he suffered a hard impact with the head. The doctors decided to not allow him to race, a decision that we agree thinking in the health of Dimas. Chantra was doing a very good weekend, but this morning he crashed and broke his left wrist. We are very disappointed but we hope both will have a quick recovery.”
