60th Anniversary Celebrations Continue at Glorious Goodwood

Under gloriously sunny skies, Honda’s 60th anniversary celebrations at the Goodwood Festival of Speed got underway today in spectacular fashion, with a range of iconic motorcycles spanning Honda’s history in Grand Prix racing ridden by equally iconic faces who have played just as important a role in Honda’s heritage.

Taking center stage were the Honda RC142, NSR500, and RC213V, alongside the RC30, RC181, Mugen Shinden Hachi, and the Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade. The rider role of honour was just as impressive, as the likes of Stuart Graham, Mick Doohan, Tadayuki Okada, Casey Stoner, Ian Hutchinson, Steve Plater, and Andrew Irwin all rode the Honda machines up the famed Goodwood hill as part of the marque’s continued 60th celebrations.

The highlight was a parade lap of six Honda machines ranging from the diminutive 1959 RC142, ridden by Stuart Graham, through Mick Doohan’s NSR500 to the latest machinery in the form of the 2019 British Superbike-spec CBR1000RR Fireblade, the Mugen Shinden Hachi and the MotoGP-all-conquering RC213V.

Many other significant examples of Honda machinery from across the years was also on display and on parade, including a 1961 RC162, 1966 RC181, a trio of mid-to-late 90s RC45s, and TT-winning Fireblades of John McGuinness and Ian Hutchinson amongst many others.
