Assisting with driving on an expressway at low speed
Traffic Jam Assist reduces the burden on the driver when driving on an expressway at low speed. This is done by helping to maintain a following distance behind the vehicle in front—adjusting speed as the speed of the vehicle in front changes—and to control steering to keep the vehicle near the center of the lane.
The system uses a camera and millimeter-wave radar to detect lane markings (solid/broken lines) and the vehicle in front.
*The function is activated when LKAS and ACC with Low Speed follow are enabled.
*Traffic Jam Assist is activated at speeds between 0 and 65 km/h. The function is not intended to take over steering from the driver. The function is not activated if the system determines the driver has taken their hands off the steering wheel or is intentionally steering the vehicle out of the lane, or if a turn signal is in use.
How it works
STEP1
The vehicle follows the vehicle in front with the camera detecting lane markings (solid/broken lines) and the camera and millimeter-wave radar detecting the vehicle in front.

Steering assistance
The individual functions of the driver-assistive system have limited capabilities (e.g. recognition capability and control capability). Please do not overestimate the capabilities of any function and drive safely while paying constant attention to the vehicle’s surroundings. A system may not work or perform adequately depending on road conditions, weather conditions and vehicle conditions.
Function is not installed in some areas.
