Assisting with steering to prevent lane departure and deviation off the road
The Road Departure Mitigation System alerts the driver that the vehicle is in danger of straying off the road and assists with steering to avoid lane departure.
The system uses a camera to detect lane markings (solid/broken lines) and uses steering wheel vibrations and visual warnings on the display to urge driver caution if the vehicle is in danger of straying out of the lane. If the vehicle is about to stray a long way out of the lane, the system assists with steering it back inside the lane.
*Some vehicle models warn the driver using the display and sounds instead of steering wheel vibrations.
How it works
STEP1
The camera detects lane markings forward of the vehicle.

STEP2
If the system determines the vehicle is changing lanes without using a turn signal or there is a danger of the vehicle straying from the lane, the driver is alerted using steering wheel vibrations and a visual warning on the display.

If the vehicle is about to stray a long way out of the lane, the system assists with steering it back inside the lane.

The individual functions of the driver-assistive system have limited capabilities (e.g. recognition capability and control capability). Please do not overestimate the capabilities of any function and drive safely while paying constant attention to the vehicle’s surroundings. A system may not work or perform adequately depending on road conditions, weather conditions and vehicle conditions.
Function is not installed in some areas.
