Supporting smooth parking space entry and exit by having the system take over the controls
Honda Parking Pilot reduces the burden on the driver by having the system take over the driving controls for parking maneuvers. The system assists driving during parking space entry and exit by controlling steering, acceleration, braking and gear shifting operations. The function supports smooth parking space entry and exit with an operation as simple as choosing where to park and pressing a button.

How it helps
The system computes the best path for entering or exiting a parking space, using four multi-view cameras to recognize parking boundary lines and 12 sonars to recognize parking space.
The driver checks the situation in the direction of travel indicated on the navigation screen and the situation around the vehicle. Once the start position is finalized on the screen, the maneuver to enter, or exit, the parking space begins, with the system controlling steering, acceleration, braking and gear shifting.
How it works
There are six modes of parking space entry and exit. If the parking space has boundary lines, three scenarios are available: perpendicular parking, parallel parking and angle parking. If the parking space does not have boundary lines, two scenarios are available: perpendicular parking and parallel parking. There is also one scenario for exiting a parallel parking space when there are vehicles in front and behind.
Commitment of Honda
Honda placed an emphasis on achieving simple usability. The user simply needs to choose where to park and press a button and the system takes over the controls. This both makes parking easier and allows the driver to concentrate on checking safety around the vehicle.
Honda made a point of programming the system to leave ample space between vehicles and move at a comfortable low speed to make even people who lack confidence about parking feel at ease with parking maneuvers.
The individual functions of the driver-assistive system have limited capabilities (e.g. recognition capability and control capability). Please do not overestimate the capabilities of any function and drive safely while paying constant attention to the vehicle’s surroundings. A system may not work or perform adequately depending on road conditions, weather conditions and vehicle conditions.
Function is not installed in some areas.
