Technology overview
Alerting drivers to their diminished attention level and encouraging them to take a break
The system uses steering corrections by the driver to detect the driver’s attention level, which is affected by driving fatigue and drowsiness. As their attention level wanes, drivers are notified via the multi-information display, warning sounds and other means and encouraged to take a break in progressive steps.
How it helps

The degree of driving fatigue or drowsiness shows in characteristics of the driver’s steering. The system tracks these characteristics to determine and display the driver’s attention level on a scale of one to four.
How it works

If the system detects an inadequate level of attention, the multi-information display to message advising the driver to take a break.
If the detected level of attention worsens, the system will display a heightened visual warning as well as an audio alert, to further warn the driver to take action.
Commitment of Honda
Because the system uses a driver’s steering to indirectly detect their attention level, we made every effort to minimize detection errors in real-world application.
The individual functions of the driver-assistive system have limited capabilities (e.g. recognition capability and control capability). Please do not overestimate the capabilities of any function and drive safely while paying constant attention to the vehicle’s surroundings. A system may not work or perform adequately depending on road conditions, weather conditions and vehicle conditions.
Function is not installed in some areas.
Depending on the model and timing of the market launch of the model, descriptions provided on this page and the actual functions available on customers’ vehicles may be different. For the functions available for each vehicle, please check the owners’ manual of the respective vehicle.
