Sponsorship of the Bachiana Music Project in Brazil
Honda Serviços Financeiros (HSF) sponsors the Bachiana Musicalization Project. The project held activities twice a week during FY2024 to promote cultural and social inclusion, music education, and environmental awareness through music for 90 socially disadvantaged children in the city of São Paulo.
In October, the symphony orchestra, conducted by João Carlos Martins, promoted a concert that was attended by 1,255 people and watched by over 5,400 additional people on social media. The HSF is actively engaged in this type of social contribution activities through music.
Professionals Training Course Offered in Brazil
From May through December 2023, the Honda Social Project Professionals Training Course was offered to 25 students at Honda's After Sales Training Center located in Recife in the state of Pernambuco in Brazil, And also this year, the first Social Project class opened in Sumaré in the state of São Paulo to which 19 students have enrolled.
Included in the 870 hours of socio-professional training programs offered to socially vulnerable students from 18 to 20 years old were theoretical and practical classes in car mechanics, motorcycles, financial services and sales, in addition to behavioral modules and sessions to learn about the Honda Philosophy.
In 2023, 45 Honda associates participated in this project as volunteer educators, and a total of USD 159,458.47 was spent, beside investing another USD 21.187.96 to donate food baskets every month to the students. Over 300 young people participated in this vocational training program in the last 16 years, including those who were all employed after concluding their last class in Recife and Sumaré in December 2023.
Supporting the “La Basura Sirve” Program to build a better future
The “La Basura Sirve” Program is comprised of activities aimed to guarantee a better future for the children by raising the awareness of teachers and students of public primary schools in Campana, Zárate and Lima on the importance of conserving the environment and providing them opportunities to learn about sustainability in hopes of generating changes in the daily actions of those involved.
These activities include workshops and fun events focused on the themes addressed in the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The program started with training sessions for teachers and management teams, which has expanded to include the Garbage is Good Program in 2023.
Grupo AcercaRSE is made up of 18 organizations that work together for the sustainable development of the community. The group carries out activities with the objective of making the community involved in generating value, promoting the public-private cooperation, and contributing to the building of a sustainable society.
Semeando Sonhos (Planting Seeds of Dream): Cooking Oil Collection Project
The "Semeando Sonhos" Project initiated by Honda Automoveis do Brasil Ltda.(HAB) consists of activities to contribute to the promotion of the utilization of waste materials in the local communities surrounding its Itirapina Factory through donation of used cooking oil to local recycling operators.
This socio-environmental project began in 2019 with HAB associates voluntarily depositing the cooking oil used in their homes at collection points set around the company, and has later expanded the sources to collect used cooking oil from to the company’s cafeterias and schools in the city.
In addition to donating oil storage collectors, HAB has rolled out awareness campaigns to emphasize the negative impacts of incorrect disposal of this waste on the environment and the importance of this project through lectures and fun events for students, teachers and their families in the surrounding communities.
Moreover, HAB has also organized a competition between schools, involving more than 1,880 students, with an aim to encourage oil collection. In recognition of their efforts, two teams that contributed to this activity most significantly were invited to the Honda’s manufacturing base for a factory tour.
This initiative has already positively impacted hundreds of children and teenagers, recycled a total of around 2,463 liters of oil to date, and leading to the promotion of environmental awareness and sustainability, and closer collaboration between the company, its associates and the communities.
Honda del Peru in Support of the Municipal Government's Road Safety Campaign
In collaboration with the municipal government, Honda Del Peru S.A. supported the Road Safety Education Week, which was set as a week to focus on raising awareness among drivers, passengers and pedestrians on the importance of respecting traffic signs and laws to safeguard people's lives.
Through various awareness-raising activities, Honda Del Peru S.A. is reinforcing its commitment to citizens to promote the compliance of the drivers and pedestrians with the duties and responsibilities of traffic rules to ensure road safety, seeking the objective of reducing and preventing traffic accidents in the region.
Road Safety Awareness Program "Pacto Vial" Conducted in Argentina
Honda Motor de Argentina S.A. carried out the 6th edition of "Road Pact (Pacto Vial)", a program aimed at raising the awareness of young people between 12 and 20 years old on the importance of behaving responsibly and supportively when using the public roads. Newly included in this latest edition were workshops for teachers and education authorities, new teaching materials designed to be adaptable to their school curricula, and playful pedagogical and experiential stations set up in multiple schools.
The contents were elaborately developed in line with the National Traffic Law and seven of the 30 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) defined by the United Nations (3, 4, 10, 11, 12, 15, 17), which were disseminated through its exclusive Instagram account (@pactovial) that was also used to share activity updates, informative trivia and announcements of contests and prizes, along with weekly posts of reels on latest trends among the youth. Various traffic-related topics were covered, including incident prevention, prohibition of driving under the influence of alcohol or substances, risk of using cell phones and earphones while driving, as well as grooming and cyberbullying, which are two current problems that require particular attention among adolescents.
This program is recognized with the "Declaration of Educational Interest of the Municipality of Rosario", and letters of endorsement from the educational authorities of Campana, Zarate, Tigre, Goya, Santo Tome and Cordoba.
Food Collection Campaign Carried Out in Brazil
The action "Food Collection Campaign" carried out in Brazil together with Honda associates who participated as volunteers contributed to the donation of a total of 47 tons of food to 22 communities and institutions in Manaus, which were then distributed to socially vulnerable families in these communities.
Communities in social vulnerability and in a situation of hunger were selected through the field survey conducted by the company's Social Service Sector. During the campaign month, the selected 22 communities received visits from numerous Honda associates bringing baskets filled with food and toys.
Solidarity Workshop Carried Out in Brazil
In December, the Solidarity Workshop, a project carried out by Honda delivered Christmas kits to around 1,000 children in situations of social vulnerability who live around its operational base in Sumaré, Brazil. The company participated in this project by donating the same amount raised throughout the year by its associates in the Sumaré Factory, 91 associates who volunteered to participate in this project assembled and distributed the Christmas bags containing toys, clothes, slippers, school supplies, hygiene materials (for children under 2 years of age) and food to seven different institutions. Since for most children, these were the only gifts they have received to celebrate Christmas, they made a big difference for their families.
Since the company was founded, Honda has sought to contribute to society and its customers, creating quality products and technologies, coexisting harmoniously and promoting philanthropic activities with the aim of strengthening ties with the communities surrounding its operational bases.
