New Recipients of HMCI's "SCLF Honda Dream Fund" Selected
In 2023, a total of 7 students from universities across China became new members of SCLF Honda Dream Fund. Their dreams involve multiple dimensions such as child care education, regional environmental improvement, and innovation in intelligent technology. SCLF Honda Dream Fund will provide financial support and practical guidance for every student to help them achieve their dreams.
SCLF Honda Dream Fund was officially launched in September 2017 by Honda Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd. (HMCI) in collaboration with China Soong Ching Ling Foundation. This project is funded by HMCI and aims to provide assistance and support to young people in low-income families, encouraging them to establish themselves in society and create greater social value while pursuing their own dreams. Since the start of the project, 43 students who have bravely challenged themselves to achieve their dreams have joined SCLF Honda Dream Fund family.
"Honda Eco Mileage Challenge" Held in China for the First Time in 3 Years
The 14th Honda China Eco Mileage Challenge was successfully held at the Guangdong International Circuit from November 25th to 26th, 2023, for the first time in three years. In this two-day competition, nearly 60 teams from major universities and Honda affiliated enterprises across China competed fiercely in four groups comprised of university teams and corporate teams driving either gasoline or electric vehicles. In the fuel powered vehicle category, Jilin University (537.77km/l) and Wuyang-Honda Motor (1092.52km/l) became the university / corporate group's champion team respectively, while in the EV category, Beijing Institute of Technology (24094m) and Dongfeng Honda Automobile (51524m) won the championship in respective groups.
Honda Eco Mileage Challenge was founded by Honda founder Soichiro Honda in Japan in 1981. Since this competition was introduced in China in 2007, it has drawn a total of over 10,000 participants in 14 rounds all successfully held to date.
The event has generated a high level of interest, with 192 students from 11 schools registered as participants this year.
Long-term Tree-planting Activities in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Mangrove Ecology Conservation Project
The Honda Group in China has continued its tree-planting activities in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region since 2008 and has planted 2 million trees over an area of more than 15 million square meters at a total cost of approximately CNY 65 million.
The project has been implemented over the past three phases of 15 years. The fourth phase, which began in 2023, aims to increase forest area, reduce water and soil loss, and improve the local environment, and plans to plant approximately 3.33 million square meters of trees over five years. The project will also contribute to sustainable development in rural areas and North China. In addition, GAC Honda Automobile Co., Ltd has initiated a mangrove ecology conservation project in 2023 in cooperation with the SEE Foundation. During the first five years from 2023 to 2027, the project will protect more than 1,800 mu (about 1.2 million square meters) of mangroves, mainly in Wenchang City, Hainan Province and Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province.
Dongfeng Honda Launches its Tree-Planting Project "Yue Blue Sky"
Honda Taiwan Motor Co., Ltd. (HTW) organized events to remove invasive plant species from Yangmingshan National Park in order to preserve native flora and Taiwan's natural environment. With the joint efforts of managers and associates, a total of 242 kilograms of invasive plant species were removed during the event period.
GAC Honda Continues to Engage in "Safety China" Activities
In 2023, GAC Honda Automobile Co., Ltd. continued to collaborate with various sectors to carry out a series of "Safety China" activities aimed at promoting road safety education for university students and drivers to enhance their road safety awareness and safe driving skills.
On November 1, the 4th Road Safety Innovation Competition was held in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, which also served as a sub-forum of the 2023 China Conference on Vehicle Safety and Sustainable Development. At this event, the competing students presented their creative ideas to help further ensure road safety and highlighted their practical achievements.
In addition, GAC Honda continues to aim at effectively improving drivers' safe driving skills and awareness by holding Safe Driving Camp periodically using the professional facilities of its own Joy Safety Driving Center. In 2023, this activity was carried out for a total of nine times for the media and vehicle users.
GAC Honda Upgrades its Traffic Safety Education Project for Children
On July 14, 2023,GAC Honda Automobile Co., Ltd. held the “Dreamful Children's Journey: Children's Road Safety Experience Exhibition” in Xiamen, Fujian Province.
At this event, GAC Honda's two original cartoon characters, traffic safety ambassador “Childhood Hero” and popular character “Emperor Cat” joined forces for the first time to provide children with an opportunity to learn about traffic safety through a fun experience. At the ceremony celebrating the collaboration between the two characters, GAC Honda also announced the official opening of two “Dreamful Children's Journey” celebrity dealerships in Xiamen, providing vehicle owners with a parent-child dialogue space focused on traffic safety.
Since 2015, GAC Honda has been working together with various institutions and organizations such as the China Automotive Technology & Research Center (CARTAC), local traffic management authorities, schools, dealers, and local communities on public welfare activities to enhance traffic safety education for children. In 2023, the “Dreamful Children's Journey” classrooms were expanded to Shanxi and Henan provinces, conducting a total of 100 teaching sessions. Currently, the "Dreamful Children's Journey" has reached across China, with over 200 million online class attendants and over 180,000 participants in offline activities nationwide.
