This is a challenge Honda takes on with its new service for bicycles that is different from offering an electric assist unit by itself and also differentiates itself from electric bicycles for which a market has already been formed. Seamless connectivity with a smartphone app will enable users to easily analyze data on their bicycle rides, which would support a healthy and individualistic lifestyle. The navigation function helps the users explore new routes and add more fun to their bike riding. Including these functions, SmaChari can be identified as a service that offers a completely new kind of entertainment through the fusion of data and the users’ physicality. The company deserves high praise for its willingness to take on challenges and create new value.
