The Factory at Honda's Birthplace:
Supporting its Beginning, and Carrying On the Tradition
Honda Motor Co., Ltd., was established in 1948, with Hamamatsu its birthplace. Hamamatsu is also the birthplace of Honda's first motorcycle, the Dream D-Type, which symbolized Honda's dream of becoming the best motorcycle maker in Japan, and in the world. Transmission Factory is located at Honda's birthplace, and from the beginning until now, continues to function as a hub for creating Honda products.
In 1951, Honda developed the Dream E-Type with an overhead-valve engine, revolutionary at the time. To realize its dream, Honda moved its head office to Tokyo. The Cub F-Type which followed, pioneered the Japanese market. The company was still in its infancy, and in order to secure production to meet the needs of customers, established its Hamamatsu Factory (currently named Transmission Factory) in 1954. The factory has always set high standards, exceeded these standards with its own technologies, carrying on Honda's tradition.
